Characters Outside In: About the Masterclass
I love those moments when my character suddenly comes to life and I feel like it's the character, not me, in the scene.
There are two main approaches to creating improvised characters: We can build Inside Out, starting with our characters personality, wishes, hope and dreams OR we can build our characters Outside In, focusing first on the character’s physical attributes and using these to understand who they are on the inside!
In this workshop, we will learn how we can use the outside to quickly dive deep and find the inside of the character as well as practice key internal elements that are so compelling, we do not have to actively change our voice, body, face or accent in order to achieve different and unique characters.

About The Teacher:Hila Di Castro is an Israeli actress, international improviser, director, and teacher. She is the Artistic Director of the International Cast at the Pandora Improv Festival (Italy) and the co-founder and Artistic Director of one of Israel's leading improv schools, Improve's – To the Next Level.
Hila is the creator and director of the international improv show Woman Up!, a taboo-breaking performance exploring what it means to be a woman in today's world. Through this production, she leads a global vision of building an international network of women's ensembles performing the show worldwide.
For more than a decade, alongside her work as a leading performer and teacher in Israel, Hila has toured internationally, performing and teaching acting and improvisation at festivals and by private invitation. Wherever she works, she brings her distinctive artistic voice, inspiring teaching style, and unique philosophy of improvisation
